The Office of Local Government (OLG) has a new dedicated page on its website for those interested in becoming a candidate in the next local government elections. The resources include guides and online learning tools.

In September 2024, the OLG advised that they have issued a 2024 edition of the Councillor Handbook, designed to help and inform new and returning Councillors in the exercise of their functions. The Councillor Handbook is a “how to” guide to being a Councillor and provides comprehensive guidance to Councillors on all aspects of their roles and responsibilities.
