UPDATE FROM THE LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
The Local Emergency Management Committee, comprising State agencies, NGOs, and Central Darling Shire Council meet daily to ensure services to COVID affected areas are coordinated and able to meet immediate needs.
The NSW State Government has extended the Public Health Order for regional and rural NSW. This means the Stay-At-Home order will be in effect until 11.59pm Friday 10 September 2021.
The Committee is still urging people to get tested. People who are vaccinated but feeling the slightest symptoms are also being urged to get tested. If people have been tested and start to feel mild symptoms, they can be tested again.
Testing clinics are available in the Central Darling Shire Council area:
- Wilcannia - Wilcannia Oval, 9am to 4pm
- Ivanhoe - Sports Ground, 10am to 2pm
- Menindee - Menindee Oval, entrance through Perry Street, 10am to 4pm
- White Cliffs - White Cliffs Sporting Club, entry through Beth Street 10am to 2pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.
Menindee residents in particular are being urged to access the testing clinic.
The Wilcannia Vaccination Clinic is operational Friday between 10am and 3pm at the Wilcannia Town Hall. Times for next week will be provided in future updates.
The Australian Defence Force AUSMAT team is on the ground in Wilcannia assisting with welfare checks for residents who are in isolation. AUSMAT is also conducting home vaccinations. Far West Local Health District is conducting home testing for people under isolation orders.
Local stores are open for residents who are able to leave home in line with Stay-At-Home orders. These residents are reminded that only one person per household can leave home for essential shopping, and that masks are mandatory whenever they leave their home. It is also a government requirement to check in at all premises visited.
Food security is being addressed, with emergency hampers supplied to residents who are unable to shop due to isolation requirements.
Central Darling Shire Council’s offices and outlets throughout the Shire are closed to the public. Limited mail services are available from the Wilcannia Post Office. People who are under isolation directions should not attend the Post Office.
