MEDIA STATEMENT

UPDATE FROM THE LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The Local Emergency Management Committee is urging all residents to continue testing for COVID-19 using the many drive through testing clinics that have been set up throughout the region. All tests are free and the Committee is encouraging people to continue having tests, even if previous tests have shown to be negative.

Even if you only have one symptom, get tested and self-isolate straight away.

  • The test is safe, free and you do not need a Medicare card.
  • The test is usually a bit uncomfortable but not painful.
  • The test is for COVID-19. Some clinics may test for other respiratory viruses.
  • The COVID-19 swabs are not tested for drugs, cancer, or anything else.

If you don't have symptoms

  • If you have COVID-19 but do not have any symptoms, this is called "asymptomatic".
  • If you have COVID-19 and do not have symptoms, you can still infect other people and they could get sick.
  • This is why it is important to get tested, even if you do not have symptoms or feel sick. By getting tested and self-isolating, you can help stop the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Testing is available at:

WILCANNIA – Wilcannia Oval daily between 9am and 4pm

IVANHOE – Ivanhoe Sportsground daily between 10am and 2pm

MENINDEE – Menindee Oval, entrance through Perry Street, 10am to 4pm

WHITE CLIFFS – White Cliffs Sporting Club, entry through Beth Street 10am to 2pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.
